ONSITE3 Recognized for E-Discovery Experience and Processing Capacity

The Socha Consulting website recently published some additional results from the 2008 Socha-Gelbmann survey to include further details on the top ranked vendors for electronic discovery, including that ONSITE3 is ranked in the Top 20 for both Experience and Capacity. ONSITE3 is also ranked in the Top 15 overall and in the Top 10 specifically for Identification and Presentation. For details on how these results were determined, click here.

In terms of experience, this portion of the survey results concerns actual case experience on e-discovery projects. Because there is a rapidly growing number of new vendors and tools entering the market these days, you need to carefully consider just how experienced a vendor really is. Some recent vendors have only limited experience, so it is important to ask about client references and prior project experience in conjunction with considering the technical aspects of particular solutions.

With over 16 years experience in legal discovery and over 1500 law firm and corporate clients worldwide, ONSITE3 has experts who understand the stakes of litigation. We also provide a comprehensive and integrated toolkit that includes both our own proprietary technologies (such as eView and E3) and “best of breed” technologies (such as Clearwell, Index Engines, and Deepdive). Whether you are considering an in-house or hosted implementation or perhaps a hybrid solution, ONSITE3 can assist you in selecting the right solution for your needs.

Regarding capacity, this portion of the survey results are not so much a reference to storage capacity but rather to the rate at which data can be processed. When considering processing capacity for e-discovery, you should think about not only your immediate requirements but also the scalability and flexibility of a solution to be able to address changing or unpredictable case requirements.

Consider not only network accessible data (such as from an email server) but also data from offline locations, such as backup tapes, cell phones, laptop hard drives, etc. As you assess the amount of data to process relative to your deadlines, think about the potential impact of archive files (such as ZIP or RAR) and documents like PowerPoint presentations or Excel spreadsheets that may have embedded or hidden content. These types of issues are where ONSITE3’s experience can help provide a more realistic assessment of the processing rate you can expect, and as necessary what special tactics or tools may be required to ensure that court imposed deadlines are met … and that submitted evidence is both admissible and defensible.

It is also important to consider any multinational aspects to e-discovery projects. For example, would data from any European locations be required? If so, you need to keep in mind European privacy law. ONSITE3 has deployable international resources that can go on-site to client locations and we’re also Safe Harbor Certified to transfer data from Europe to a central processing facility within the United States in compliance with European privacy law.

While some vendors may suggest a one-size-fits-all solution, ONSITE3 can customize and package our solutions to meet your specific needs. Our approach enables you to manage risk and to control cost for an overall greater return on investment for evidence management.

To learn more about ONSITE3’s full range of e-discovery solutions, click here or stop by and see us at Booth 806 during the ILTA Conference being held Aug. 25 - 28, 2008 in Grapevine, Texas (near Dallas).

You’ve got mail

The August 2008 issue of OpRisk & Compliance magazine includes an article (You’ve got mail) on email compliance from Editor Ellen Davis. The article cites ONSITE3’s Robert Ballou on what firms can expect as they plan for email and electronic communications compliance on the international stage.

Below is an excerpt from the article:

Emails are increasingly being used (and demanded) as evidence by US courts, and the implications of this are rippling around the globe. Ellen Davis looks at what international firms need to be doing with their email to ensure they can handle the changing, contradictory requirements in this area.

Until very recently, discussion about email and electronic communications monitoring, storage, retrieval and e-discovery was very much a US-based phenomenon, and an IT issue. No more.

Propelled by a series of court cases and regulatory enforcement actions, financial services firms in the US now regularly archive most of their email correspondence for a period of time, and have developed robust policies around storage and retrieval. Email issues are also beginning to blossom in the UK and Europe, and industry experts fully expect email retention and retrieval problems to become international within 18 months to two years. It’s no surprise …

ONSITE3 Ranked As Top Provider in 2008 Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey

Law.com’s EDD Update blog provided a sneak preview of the 2008 Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey results. The widely respected survey ranks ONSITE3 within the Top 15 of all eDiscovery service providers.

The article states that all of the top eDiscovery vendors identified in the survey represent, “the best of the best, an elite cadre singled out from a field of well over 600 organizations that offer some form of EDD services or software“. Note that the survey does not assign specific rankings to each of the vendors but rather alphabetically groups them into the top 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, and so on.

ONSITE3’s top ranking in this year’s survey also represents the fourth consecutive year that ONSITE3 has been honored by the Socha-Gelbmann survey with the distinction of being a “top” provider of electronic discovery services.
